Background & Foundation:
The idea of Yak Dar was born on August 16, 2017, following environmental activities led by the Zanist (Science) Group at Tanahi Primary School. The desire to expand the initiative into a sustained movement led to the official founding of Yak Dar on November 25, 2017, as a grassroots volunteer group focused on environmental protection.
Volunteers from Duhok, Erbil, and Kirkuk joined through an open-call form. Despite limited resources, the team relied on continuous learning and self-education to grow their environmental impact.
Our Goals:
1. Planting Trees: To restore and expand green spaces, combat climate change, and promote biodiversity.
2. Reducing Plastic Pollution: We work to raise awareness about the harmful effects of plastic waste and encourage the use of eco-friendly alternatives.
3. Community Engagement: Through educational programs, clean-up campaigns, and workshops, we empower individuals to make a positive impact on the environment
